All our knitwear items are made-on-demand in Brooklyn, NY using advanced 3D knitting machines. This method crafts each garment in one continuous, three-dimensional piece. Compared to traditional models, 3D knitting reduces fabric waste from roughly 20% to essentially zero, using only the materials that are actually needed.
The seamless design of our 3D-knit garments also improves their durability, by removing the structural weak points most prone to split or fray with repeated washes and wear.
Finally, made-on-demand production means that each garment is knit only when a customer actually purchases it - eliminating overstock, ensuring we don’t contribute to textile waste, and reducing our environmental footprint.
The woven items in our collection are manufactured in Los Angeles, CA in the smallest production quantities feasible. By producing a limited number of units and restocking based on demand, we mitigate the risk of overproduction and avoid the excess inventory that typical fashion brands send to landfills.
Domestic manufacturing also reduces the carbon emissions tied to shipping goods back and forth across oceans, and allows for increased oversight of quality and working conditions. For the same reason, we source as many materials as possible (fabrics, packaging, labels, etc) domestically rather than internationally. Aside from our merino wool (which is spun in Italy), nearly every component of our garments was produced here in the USA.
MERINO WOOL
Merino wool is a naturally renewable, biodegradable fiber that is known for its durability, elasticity, and shape retention. With inherent temperature-regulating properties, merino wool both insulates from the cold and absorbs sweat vapor to cool you in the heat. Because it naturally repels odor-causing bacteria, Merino garments also stay fresh longer and require less washing.
Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia is one of Italy's oldest fully verticalized spinning companies - with a documented commitment to sustainable and ethical practices from raw wool sourcing through the manufacturing and dying processes. This includes:
2. Bemberg™ Cupro
Manufactured exclusively by Asahi Kasei in Japan, Bemberg™ is the gold standard of cupro fibers. Produced in a closed-loop system powered by renewable energy, it transforms cotton linter - a byproduct of the cotton harvesting process that would otherwise go to waste - into a lightweight, breathable fiber with a cool hand feel and inherent anti-static properties
At ISH, all of our merino wool pieces are crafted with Cashwool® - this patented, machine-washable ultra-fine merino was created by Zegna Baruffa, and is designed to deliver the hand-feel of cashmere with the durability and pilling resistance of pure wool.
TENCEL LYOCELL / BEMBERG CUPRO BLEND (51% Tencel/49% Cupro)
Designed to be a more durable, sustainable, and regulated alternative to silk, this blend offer the fluid movement and drape of silk garments using two of the world’s most advanced, low-impact regenerated cellulose fibers:
1. Tencel™ Lyocell
Sourced from sustainably managed eucalyptus forests, Tencel is produced via a closed-loop process that recovers and reuses over 99% of its water and solvent. Tencel is breathable and soft, while also offering superior tensile strength, washability, and moisture management compared to silk

As a consumer, we believe you deserve as much information and transparency as possible about what your clothing is made of, and where and how it was produced. For that reason, ISH is committed to disclosing, whenever possible, where are fabrics were sourced from, where our garments were sewn, and any environmental or ethical certifications associated with the materials or factories throughout our supply chain.
